Project Background

As European households face increasing grid volatility and rising electricity costs, more homeowners in Italy are turning to independent, reliable energy storage solutions to safeguard their homes against power interruptions and grid instability.


The homeowner in this case lives in a detached villa with an attached garage. Without modifying the existing grid connection, the goal was to add an on-grid battery storage system capable of providing stable backup power to critical loads during outages. To meet this need, we designed and installed a customized 10kW/20kWh residential energy storage system with outdoor installation.


System Configuration Core Specifications

Inverter power: 10kW, on-grid operation

Storage capacity: 20kWh (dual battery module configuration)

Installation type: Outdoor wall-mounted inverter + floor-standing battery units

Application: Whole-home backup power, peak shaving, outage protection


The system is installed on the exterior wall beside the garage. The inverter is securely wall-mounted in a protective enclosure and connected to the electrical panel nearby. Two battery units are arranged side by side, each equipped with caster wheels for easy positioning and future expansion. All cabling is neatly routed and protected within conduit for a clean, professional finish.

The entire system is deployed outdoors, requiring no garage or indoor space — ideal for villas with limited interior space, while also simplifying routine inspection and maintenance.

Smart On-Grid Switching
